Mounjaro/Tirzepatide/Weight loss injections

Despite wide spread new reports since Monday, please be aware that General Practice is not currently offering weight loss injections on the NHS. We are currently unable to prescribe these as we are awaiting appropriate infrastructure and necessary ‘wrap around’ clinical support from hospital services, which has not been set up in our area yet.

When we are ready to begin prescribing, this will be following strict criteria and we will contact those patients who are eligible. Please help to keep our phone lines and request platforms free and do not contact the surgery regarding weight loss injections at this time.

Please be aware that patients are only eligible for this service if they meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Over the age of 18
  • BMI over 40 or 37.5 if you are from a Black, Asian or other minority ethnic background
  • have diagnosed hypertension
  • have diagnosed dyslipidaemia (abnormal amounts of lipids in blood)
  • have diagnosed obstructive sleep apnoea
  • have diagnosed cardiovascular disease
